Daedelus at Play (Sold)
Oil on canvas over marine ply
140x62cm
This is such an archetypal image that everyone will read it in their own way.
I chose to associate it with the Minoan legend of Daedelus, father of Icarus and central to the genesis of the mythical Minotar.
It began as an attempt to encompass the enormous wingspan of a fish eagle on a canvas, to which for some reason I added the head of a wizened man found on a cd cover.
There's a previous version of it, much smaller, which you can view here if you like.
