I was busy with a revisit of an earlier sketch, a procession of dreamlike creatures, when a friend told me about a dream she'd had, of a fire breathing hippo and a pyramid.
That immediately sounded like painting material and I soon realised it would work with the procession I was working on, so I added those elements.
It was done without much planning so it took quite a while to come into focus, with multiple layers in much the same manner as the cave art that it mimics.
