A friend shared a video of a young polish pianist, Hania Rani, playing a composition of her own called F Major. The video was shot on a windswept plain in Iceland, a single piano and player in the vast expanse, with a dancer in the distance. I knew immediately that I had to do a painting of it, although the result is filtered through my own peculiar rendering of flattened perspective and loose linework. And of course the stream of imaginary oddities rising from the piano is my own invention
